CONVERGENCES

Cette installation a été réalisée dans le cadre du projet The man who sold the world qui proposait à l’école des Beaux Arts de Bordeaux de s'insérer dans la fête du fleuve. Nous avons choisi de travailler sur le passé de la ville de Bordeaux, lié au commerce triangulaire.

La relation qui m’a intéressée est celle qui lie la question de la migration avec les lumières des phares qui signalent une terre. J’ai créé un point de concentration, une direction pour recréer un phare dans l’espace public. Après avoir vu les miroirs ou les éclairs de lumières, les passants étaient attirés vers l’objet. Puis, une fois sur place, ils se confrontent à ces silhouettes sur lesquelles leur reflet est renvoyé. Les phénomènes de migration, de déplacement de population qui sont souvent décrits avec des chiffres sont surtout des phénomènes qui mettent en jeu des identités, des individualités.

This installation was carried out the project « The man who sold the world » which offered to Fine Art School of Bordeaux to integrate the celebration of the river. We have chosen to work on the past of the city of Bordeaux, linked to the triangular trade.

The relationship that interested me is the one that links the issue of migration with the lights of the headlights that signal ground. I created a concentration point, a direction to recreate a beacon in the public space. After watching the lights flash mirrors, passersby were attracted by the object. Then, once there, they were confronted to these figures on which their reflection is visible. Phenomena of migration, of population displacement often are described with numbers, but above all, they are  phenomena that involve identities and individualities.
